Shanghaied – 1915 Black & White. A tale of the high seas and of high conspiracy, Chaplin finds himself employed as an assistant cook aboard a ship heading for nothing but trouble. The ships owner and Captain try to sink the vessel in an attempt to collect the insurance money what rascals! The ship owners daughter, naturally a beautiful girl, has stowed away and knows nothing of her fathers dirty tricks fortunately, our hero saves her and the day. The Count – 1916 Black & White. Whilst working as a tailors assistant, Chaplin crosses his employer with the usual chaotic consequences. The tailor comes across an invitation to a party for the wealthy socialite, Miss Moneybags. The invitation is found in the clothes of the Count and the tailor decides to masquerade as the Count. By coincidence, Charlie is at the house of Miss Moneybags visiting his friend, the cook. The tailors deception is exposed by our hero and the usual shenanigans ensue. The Cure – 1917 Black & White. A visit to a health spa has an outcome far from that which those seeking complete rest and recuperation are expecting! Charlie decides to take a stock of rum with him whilst visiting the spa and needless to say, the rum ends up in the healing waters. A sadistic masseur, a chap with the gout, the pretty girl (of course) and a spa full of drunks collectively give our hero an unforgettable hangover.
