Two more cases for the ale-drinking Oxford detective. In ‘The Way Through the Woods’ a convicted killer is murdered while serving his prison sentence. When his guilt is then called into question, Morse decides to reopen the original case. In ‘The Daughters of Cain’ an Oxford academic is found murdered. At first routine, the case becomes more complex when it transpires that drugs, an undergraduate suicide and the theft of an ancient dagger from the local museum are all somehow involved.
