The stormy relationship between Larry McLinden (Peter Strauss) and Karen Hamilton (Rachel Ticotin) is about to come to an end, when Karen announces that she is pregnant. After the birth, Larry stays with Karen for the sake of his son, whom he grows to love dearly. However, this love is shattered when Karen runs away with the boy, and so begins a bitter and protracted battle for custody.
