Jimmy Spud (Sean Landless) is an 11-year-old boy from Newcastle who decides he wants to become an angel. His unemployed dad (Iain Glen) disapproves of his plans, thinking he should get into football and girls instead, but when the Archangel Gabriel (Billy Connolly) comes for a visit, young Jimmy feels that his dreams will soon be realised. However, when he starts wandering around carrying a golden trumpet and wearing a robe made of feathers, trouble is sure to follow.
