In the late1950s and early 1960s, the BBC TV series Railway Roundabout was broadcast to an avid audience of railway enthusiasts young and old. Featuring train lines which proved to be on the point of closure and locomotives that were about to disappear forever, few would have forseen at the time how valuable and cherished these programmes would prove to be in years to come.
