The Master of Bankdam is a Northern drama of epic proportions, charting the fortune of three generations of the Crowther family. It is 1850 and Simeon Crowther (Tom Walls) has built Bankdam into one of the most successful textile mills in Yorkshire. Having seen his business prosper through hard work and fairness, Simeon has to choose which of his two sons will take over Bankdam: Joshua or Zebediah. Joshua (Dennis Price) is thrown out of the family home when he makes one of the textile operatives pregnant and Zebediah (Stephen Murray) is courted and ensnared by a scheming social climber. Both sons fight for control of their father`s business against the backdrop of Britain s chaotic industrial revolution. With Zebediah desperate to install new looms against his brother s advice, the Crowthers begin to argue amongst themselves. As the workers stage a walkout and violence flares, which one of the Crowthers will save the family business and become The Master of Bankdam?
