Martina Cole – The Jump/Dangerous Lady

Double-bill of television adaptations of the Martina Cole novels. In ‘The Jump’ (1998), when her husband George (Jonathan Cake) is put behind bars for a brutal armed robbery, Donna Brunos (Susan Vidler) becomes convinced of his innocence. She enlists the help of ex-con Alan (Adrian Dunbar), planning to spring George from prison, but soon becomes sucked into a dangerous criminal underworld. ‘Dangerous Lady’ (1995) follows the rise and fall of the Ryans, an Irish family who became one of the most feared band of crime lords in the gangland world of London in the 1960s. It focuses upon their daughter Maura (Susan Lynch), who proves to be the most dangerous of them all.
