CHINA
Bear is stranded in Southern China in the aftermath of a typhoon. He’s dropped on a mountainside and has to tackle huge, rain-swollen rivers, climb monster waterfalls, cross vertiginous limestone gorges and use every ounce of his survival skills to show you how to get back to civilisation. Along the way, Bear is attacked by stinging ants and uses ancient tribal techniques to catch bats for food. After another heart-stopping climb, he is plucked from a typhoon-hit river by a local Chinese fisherman.
GUATEMALA
Bear rappels onto a live volcano in Guatemala; in a race against time, he runs thousands of feet through lava, ash and cinders to get to the tree line. Following a jungle river leads Bear into an ancient caves system where an underground waterfall awaits him. In the jungle, Bear eats a smorgasbord of bugs and crabs before sleeping in a nest high up in a tree. The bed structure is intended to avoid jaguars, but Bear ends up sharing his sleeping space with an equally deadly bedmate: a viper. Bear ends his journey being air-lifted by helicopter from the top of an ancient Mayan ruin.
URBAN SURVIVOR
In a special edition of Born Survivor , Bear finds himself in a new kind of jungle – a concrete jungle. Just because he’s partially inside, doesn’t mean he’s out of the woods as Bear uses the same wilderness survival techniques to stay alive in a post-disaster city. Coming ashore in a deserted shipyard, Bear scales a tower crane, finds food 200 feet up in the rafters of a factory, sets traps in a derelict boiler house and shows how to survive the city when all the comforts you take for granted have gone.

Bear travels the globe, taking on the world’s toughest environments to show you how to survive, but he is never alone. A small and dedicated crew follows him every step of the way. In this behind-the-scenes episode, meet the cameraman and his safety expert who testify to how it really feels to follow in Bear’s footsteps. From dark caves in Romania, where Bear led them through flooded underground tunnels, to the deserts of Texas, where they were forced to wing walk to get the shots, this episode reveals the crew and the lengths they go to when shooting Born Survivor.
