Cook and writer Nigel Slater takes us through some seriously relaxed cookery with ideas, tips and inspiration for easy-to-make meals. In each episode of this six-part series Nigel unveils a weeks worth of uncomplicated and easy-to-remember meal suggestions. Raiding his cupboards, fridge and vegetable patch, he shows how, with a little imagination, everyday ingredients can produce spectacular results. Nigel encourages us to experiment in the kitchen and have the confidence to improvise with our favourite herbs, spices and flavours or whatever we might have available. He shows us imaginative ways of dealing with leftovers, the secret of using ingredients that grow together and some of his favourite food combinations. Among the many delicious meals Nigel prepares in the series are a bean soup with chard and orange; a mess of hot berries poured over Madeira sponge; grilled goats cheese with roasted garlic pure on toast; a leek risotto, served with parmesan crisps and a creamy, crunchy fruit sundae.
