Jeremy Brett stars as Sherlock Holmes in two adaptations of the classic ITV series. In ‘The Red-Headed League’ a newspaper advertisement catches the attention of red-headed pawn broker Jabez Wilson. As the latest recruit to the Red-Headed League, bewildered Jabez approaches Holmes to discover who began the League and why they have mysteriously dissolved it. In ‘The Copper Beeches’ the prospect of working as a governess for Mr Jephro Ruscastlee would appear ideal for the young Violent Hunter, even after his strange request for her to sacrifice her luxuriant chestnut hair. Before too long Violent accepts Holmes’ offer to help ‘at any time, day or night’.
