Second half of the second series of this Cornish drama. As the turn of the century draws near, Ross is distanced from Demelza after her affair with Armitage. George Warleggan, now a political success, finds the happiness of his marriage to Elizabeth threatened after a chance remark.Synopsis
There have been many British period pieces on television, but Poldark may be the most beloved of all. This costume drama, set in the 18th Century, was based on the Poldark novels by Winston Graham and illustrated the life and loves of Captain Ross Poldark, an aristocrat returning back to his home in Cornwall after fighting in America’s War for Independence. The largely socio-economic message of Poldark speaks about unjust contrasts between the poor and the wealthy, and Poldark is often seen at odds with members of his own class. This outstanding series was lauded for having remarkable outdoor sequences and superior acting. Above all, Poldark is a lively, engaging historical drama.
