When the orphan elephant Barbar arrives in the city he is taken in by a kindly old lady and taught the ways of city life, including such skills as book reading, car driving and tea drinking. Later, when he returns to the jungle, he devises a clever plan which saves the elephants from the troublesome rhinos and results in him being crowned King of the Elephants.
