Unappreciated as a puppeteer and bored in his ten-year marriage, Craig Schwartz (John Cusack) takes a job in an office where he discovers a portal into the mind of actor John Malkovich (played by himself). To his amazement, he then finds that he is able to occupy and control Malkovich’s body; but when he shares this discovery with his wife Lotte (Cameron Diaz) it leads to all kinds of trouble.
