Blind Date
Horror/Thriller made by 80’s cult director Nico Mastorakis, starring Joseph Bottoms (The Dove; The Black Hole) & Kirstie Alley (Look Who’s Talking; Drop Dead Gorgeous; Tv’s – Cheers). A man (Bottoms) goes blind when remembering his lost girlfriend, but the doctors can’t find anything wrong with his eyes. They fit him with an experimental device which allows him to see with the aid of a computer interface and brain electrodes. Meanwhile, a taxi driver is taking young women up to their apartments, giving them gas, and performing a little fatal amateur surgery on them. Their paths inevitably converge, and the blind man must try to stop the psychopath. So-so thriller notable now for it’s unusual visual effects, the gratuitous, mainly topless nudity from almost all the female cast (including a very brief scene from Kirstie herself), and for who else was in the film in small roles, namely; the now sadly-murdered B-movie star Lana Clarkson (The Barbarian Queen) has a co-starring role, Marina Sirtis (The Wicked Lady; Tv’s- Star Trek) is a topless hooker and right down the credits, billed as simply ‘girl in a bikin’ is future international star, Valeria Golino (Rain Man; Hot Shots; Immortal Beloved). Trivia note; look out for 2001: A Space Odyssey star Keir Dullea in a tiny, wasted role as a doctor.
Hostile Avances
Kerry Ellison is being terrorised by colleague Sterling Gray, who fantasises about having a relationship with her. A charge of sexual harassment is dismissed by the courts, and Kerry realises that she is going to have to stop Sterling’s obsessive intrusion on her life herself.
