A collection of Cary Grant films. In ‘Bringing Up Baby’ (1938) eccentric heiress Susan Vance (Katharine Hepburn) steals a dinosaur bone from absent-minded paleontologist David Huxley (Grant), forcing him to track her down to her Connecticut farm. Along the way he runs into trouble with the authorities and a possible sponsor for his museum, and ends up looking after Susan’s pet leopard, ‘Baby’. In ‘My Favourite Wife’ (1940) Nick Arden (Grant) has his wife Ellen (Irene Dunne) declared legally dead after she has been missing for seven years, in order to marry his new love, Bianca (Gail Patrick). When Ellen, who has been shipwrecked all this time, returns to find her erstwhile husband has remarried, she sets out to get him back by making him jealous over Stephen (Randolph Scott), the man with whom she was shipwrecked. In ‘Indiscreet’ (1958) Anna Kalman (Ingrid Bergman) is a wealthy actress whose love affairs never last for long. When she meets businessman Philip Adams (Grant) at a NATO dinner, she is attracted to him. He reveals that he is married, but this does not prevent them embarking on a love affair. However, just as Philip prepares to depart for a job in New York, Anna discovers that he has been less than honest with her. Finally, in ‘Operation Petticoat’ (1959) Matt Sherman (Grant) is skipper of the U.S.S. Sea Tiger, a submarine forced out to sea by an enemy air attack. He is less than impressed by his newly-arrived junior officer, Lieutenant Nick Holden (Tony Curtis), who nevertheless manages to scavenge the spare parts and supplies needed to keep the sub in action. Matters are complicated when five stranded army nurses are taken on board, and assist with the renovation. Through a series of mishaps, Sherman’s command ends up being painted a conspicuous shade of pink!
