Ray Liotta stars as Manny, a recently widowed man with a bubbly daughter in Los Angeles in the late 1950s. To help with the domestic side of his life, he employs vivacious housekeeper Corrina (Whoopi Goldberg), and soon finds himself drawn into a relationship with her. This brings about the wholesale disapproval of his racist neighbours, friends and family.
