The true story of Sally Goodman (Kirstie Alley), a single mother whose single-minded dedication to caring for her brain-damaged son David has left her isolated from all those around her. When David turns sixteen the value of this devotion is brought into question, it becoming increasingly clear that Sally is just as dependent upon David as he is on her.
