Four more episodes from the BBC’s relaunched version of the television sci-fi classic, following the adventures of the Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) and his human assistant Rose (Billie Piper). In ‘The Long Game’, the Doctor and Rose, along with new companion Adam (Bruno Langley), find themselves on the news broadcasting Satellite 5, 200,000 years in the future. In ‘The Empty Child (Part 1)’ the time travellers arrive in London during the Blitz after chasing a mysterious craft. While the Doctor investigates a sinister gas-masked child that is attacking other homeless children on the bombed out streets of the city, Rose is rescued by the suave, charming Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), a Time Agent from the 50th century. Finally, in ‘The Doctor Dances (Part 2)’, Jack Harkness reveals the truth about the mysterious craft the TARDIS was chasing, and the Doctor realises that young Nancy (Florence Hoath) is the vital connection to the sinister infected child.
