Students Derrick Webb (James Marsden), Cathy Jones (Lena Headey) and Travis (Norman Reedus) decide to conduct a social ‘experiment’ when they observe the beautiful and wealthy Naomi Preston (Kate Hudson) – famous for refusing to have sex – drunkenly passing out while with her boyfriend Beau Edson. The trio spread a rumour that Naomi and Beau in fact had sex, but when the gossip reaches Naomi she goes to the police and Beau is arrested for rape. The game has suddenly become deadly serious, and when Cathy discovers that Derrick and Naomi attended the same high school she begins to suspect his motives for the experiment.
