An interesting history of the transatlantic liners. It contains plenty of original footage, contemporary photographs and illustrations of the greatest liners ever built. It starts from the Packets and moves into steam, paddles, screw propellers, turbines, emigration, luxury and style. Filled with potted histories and facts, it will probably take more than one viewing to absorb. However for those who know a lot about this subject it may be a little too general as none of the ships are covered in any great detail. However here’s a list of some of the ships featured: Comet, Sirius, Great Western, Great Eastern, Britannia (Cunard), City of New York, Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse (NGL), Deutschland (HAPAG), RMS Lusitania, Mauretania, Aquitania, Olympic, Titanic, SS Imperator (HAPAG), Bismarck (RMS Majestic), SS le de France, Normandie, RMS Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, SS United States and the QE 2.
