When Colin Ware (Colin Firth) is dumped by his fiancee, Vera (Minnie Driver), and then discovers that she is about to marry another man, he becomes a desperate man. In a bid to heal his broken heart, he heads for America and ends up in Hope, a small New England town. There, the locals try to help him overcome his ‘injury’ by introducing him to Mandy (Heather Graham). Is he ready to love again, or will the sudden re-appearance of Vera throw his new romance into turmoil?
