Riches-to-rags tale starring Hilary Duff and her sister Haylie as spoilt heiresses forced to wardrobe-downsize and live with the proletariat. The Marchetta sisters Ava and Tanzie (the Duffs) live the extra-large, ‘celebutante’ life thanks to proceeds of their late daddy’s cosmetics empire. However, when one of Marchetta Cosmetics’ products falls afoul of the law and scandal ensues, their gay social whirl soon becomes a dizzying downward spiral whose end is grim austerity. Abandoned by fake friends and forced to make cut after cut, the sisters bravely battle such seemingly insurmountable obstacles as working for a living, public transport and doing one’s own laundry. The only person interested in bailing them out by buying the company is the menacing Fabiola (Anjelica Huston), a long time business competitor of their father, and the two would rather eat corned beef than sell to her. They opt to take the hard road and save their empire by themselves. Will their efforts be enough to save the family firm?
