Daisy Araujo (Julia Roberts) spends the summer following graduation working at a pizza parlour in her home town, sharing her hopes and dreams with sister Kat (Annabeth Gish) and best friend Jojo (Lili Taylor). Kat is university-bound until she falls for a married man; Jojo is unable to commit to her long-term boyfriend despite his urging her to marry him; while Daisy’s plans are put on hold when she begins a relationship with Charles, a boy from the rich side of the tracks. Together the three of them try to sort out their problems.
