The true story of Don Mackey, who rose to the top of his profession as a ‘smoke jumper’. One of a crack team of firefighters who parachute into forest fires, he could not give up the thrill of his work even when he fell in love and married former firefighter Rene. His obsession led ultimately to tragedy on Storm King Mountain, Colorado, in 1994, the worst forest fire in American history.
