On January 21st 1991, eight members of SAS squadron Bravo Two Zero under the command of Sergeant Andy McNab are airlifted to northwest Iraq. Their mission was to stop the scuds firing into Israel. During the mission two die of exposure, one dies of gunshot wounds and four are captured by the Iraqis. They are tortured and imprisoned until the end of the war. The plane would never reach its destination. An hour into the flight, four Arab terrorists (two men and two women) take over the plain in the name of the Red Army Faction and Germany TMs Baader-Meinhof Gang. Within hours of the hijacking, West Germany mobilizes its special anti-terrorists unit: Grenzschutzgruppe-9 or GSG-9 to take control of the situation. The 24 Green Berets stationed at Lang Vei act as “force multipliers” – their mission is to train allied indigenous troops and lead them on a covert reconnaissance patrols.
