The complete third series of the self-sufficiency sitcom. In ‘The Early Birds’, Tom (Richard Briers) and Barbara’s (Felicity Kendal) attempt to rise with the sun in order to make the most of the dwindling daylight does not go down well with neighbours Margo (Penelope Keith) and Jerry (Paul Eddington). ‘The Happy Event’ sees the Leadbetters coming to the Goods’ aid when their pig goes into labour and the litter includes a runt. In ‘A Tug of the Forelock’, Tom and Barbara take the place of Margo’s gardener and cleaner in order to earn some extra cash, but soon discover that their neighbour is not the easiest of employers. In ‘I Talk to the Trees’, Tom and Barbara decide to conduct a scientific experiment on their plantlife. In ‘The Wind-Break War’, the Goods are furious when they learn that Margo is planning to put up a large wind-break that will shade their new fruit patch. ‘Whose Fleas are These?’ sees Margo and Jerry horrified when the Good household becomes plagued by fleas. And finally, in ‘The Last Posh Frock’, various people mistake Barbara for a man, causing her to doubt her femininity, and when she accidentally tears her last good dress, she becomes distraught.
