Seemingly made by people whose only previous experience of movies was watching Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction over and over again, The Last Days of Frankie the Fly is nonetheless a competent time-passer in a “Tarantino, this is all your fault” kind of way. Frankie (Dennis Hopper) is already disgruntled with life as a small-time gopher for mob-captain Sal (Michael Madsen), when he meets Margaret (Daryl Hannah), an equally depressed porn star whose one burning desire is to become a serious actress (and what, end up in films like this?). With his ardour for Margaret as a catalyst, Frankie decides to make one last desperate bid to get out of the game–and into a career as a Hollywood scriptwriter.
