Re-make of the highly successful Japanese horror film adapted from the novel by Koji Suzuki. After watching a mysterious videotape the viewer receives a telephone call telling them they only have seven days left to live. When a group of teenagers, who watched the tape and scoffed at the warning, die after seven days, journalist Rachel Kelly (Naomi Watts) decides to uncover this deadly mystery.
