Two coming-of-age comedy dramas based on the series of novels by Ann Brashares. ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ (2005) revolves around a special 16th summer in the lives of four lifelong friends, Tibby (Amber Tamlyn), Lena (Alexis Bledel), Carmen (America Ferrara) and Bridget (Blake Lively), who are separated for the first time. On a shopping trip, the girls find a pair of thrift-shop jeans that fits each of them perfectly and they decide to use these ‘magic’ pants as a way of keeping in touch over the months ahead, each girl wearing the jeans for a week to see what luck they bring her before sending them on to the next. Though miles apart, the four friends still experience life, love and loss together in a summer they’ll never forget. In ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2’ (2008), three years on from the events depicted in the first film, the four lifelong friends, Tibby (Tamblyn), Lena (Bledel), Carmen (Ferrara) and Bridget (Lively), embark on separate paths for their first year of college and the summer beyond, but remain in touch by sharing their experiences with each other as they always have: with honesty and humour. As they discover their individual strengths and weaknesses and face major choices regarding their future lives, the young women come to value their friendship more than ever.
