Gritty psychological drama about a young man who is forced to make a life-changing choice during WWII. Leaving his German-run university after his collaborator father is murdered, 21-year-old Francois (Gregoire Leprince-Ringuet) returns to his home in Luxembourg. With the country under the control of the Nazis, Francois is forced to make a choice between conscription, which means fighting the Allies on the Western Front, or joining a group of deserters hiding out in dire conditions in iron mines in the countryside. After deciding to join the resistance-led group, the previously withdrawn Francois soon finds himself having to learn the harshest of life’s lessons under the most difficult of circumstances.
