A small-town police detective named Turner (Tom Hanks) finally runs across a real crime when an old sailor is murdered on a barge in the harbour. The only witness is the sailor’s slobbering dog, Hooch. Turner takes the dog into his home, which the canine proceeds to wreck, but the unlikely team of man and dog gradually forge a strong crime-fighting bond.
