In the winter of 1944, a group of American soldiers find themselves surrounded and outnumbered by Nazis at the strategic crossroads of Bastogne. Required to surrender by the Germans, the Americans reply in the negative. As the snow continues to fall, the men in the squad react to the situation in different ways. This film was nominated for six Oscars in 1949, including Best Picture, and won two, including one for Robert Pirosh’s screenplay.
