MOBY DICK (1956)
In 1841, young Ishmael (Richard Basehart) signs up for service aboard the Pequod, a whaling ship sailing out of New Bedford. The ship is under the command of Captain Ahab (Gregory Peck), a strict disciplinarian who exhorts his men to find Moby Dick, the great white whale. Ahab lost his leg to the whale and is desperate for revenge. As the crew soon discovers, Ahab will stop at nothing to gain satisfaction.
Based on the book written by Herman Melville, Moby Dickis one of the greatest adventure films of all time. This technicolor film has rightly become a classic, it has fantastic cinematography, a great cast, a screenplay by Ray Bradbury and one of the greatest directors to come out of Hollywood – John Huston. A must-see film!
