It presents a picture, not only of these extraordinary characters, but also gives an authentic insight into the birth, development and ultimately the global appeal of the romantic, culturally significant surfing lifestyle itself. ‘Dogtown and Z Boys’ is a documentary which shows how a group of surfers known as the Zephyr Team revolutionised skateboarding in the mid-1970s. Hailing from California, the Z-boys spend a summer practising their skateboard techniques in dried-out swimming pools, and go on to make their mark at the 1975 Del Mar Skateboard Internationals. Includes archive footage and recent interviews with team members.
