The entire series which profiles Britain’s railways in the Second World War. ‘The Home Front’ covers everything from Luftwaffe raids, through troop carrying, evacuee trains, munitions hauling to rail-mounted anti-aircraft guns on the Romney, Hithe and Dymchurch narrow gauge railway and much more. It features rare archive footage and three wartime short films highlighting the work on the rails: ‘Carrying the Load’; ‘Necessary Journey’; and ‘Southern on Service’. ‘Steam Soldiers On’ chronicles the RAF’s attempts to destroy the German rail system, plus the damage wrought in England by the Luftwaffe.
